About the Artist:
George Anderson Short was born in Kirkharle, Northumberland, and later moved to Halifax where he worked as a carpet designer at Dean Clough Mills. In 1907 he moved to Snaith, and then returned to live in Halifax 20 years later. He was a prolific artist, working in oils, pastel and watercolours, mostly concentrating on sporting scenes, wild fowl, hunt meets and local scenes.
